The best crabbing trip ever!

Michael's cousin, Pamela visited Lake Charles with her daughter, Kelly, in May. When she visits, she loves to do things that she can't do anywhere but Louisiana. This time, we went crabbing. What fun! We have been crabbing several times before, but never like this. This picture of Nic was taken less than 20 minutes after we got started.

We caught so many, we had to leave early. We had at least 8 lines out and we were pulling up 3 and 4 crabs at a time!

The allowed number of crabs you may take home is 5 dozen per vehicle. We had 4 vehicles. We figured we should stop, although we had lost count. Once we got home and counted, we had around 252!

We packed lunches, brought snacks, doughnuts, you name it. We barely got finished with breakfast when we had to pack up and leave. But what a fun trip. We were in Hackberry and the tide had just come in, and the current was strong, bringing all those yummy crabs with it. Nicholas showed no fear, but Carli, on the other hand...well, just look at her face.

It was a cold, wet, rainy day, but that couldn't spoil our fun! We had a blast. And the crabs were delicious. We can't wait to go again.

Gotta love good 'ole Louisiana traditions.
